Dr. Richard Kogan
AIR’s partnership with MU’s Center for Health Ethics and its annual effort to connect with the arts with its Carlos Perez-Mesa, MD Medical Lectureship in the Humanities continues this October 5 with a visit from Richard Kogan, MD.
A trained concert pianist and practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Kogan will deliver remarks to students and faculty of MU’s School of Music and attendees at MU’s Health Ethics Conference. That evening, Dr. Kogan will present Ragtime: The Music and Mind of Scott Joplin. Part concert, part lecture, the performance will tell Scott Joplin’s life story, from his impoverished childhood as the son of a slave to his success as “King of Ragtime.”
The October 5, 7 p.m. performance at Whitmore Recital Hall is free to the public. For more information, contact MU’s Center for Health Ethics: 573-882-2738 or healthethics@missouri.edu.
