Art on Campus & in the Community

MU’s academic departments and organizations offer a wide variety of arts opportunities with something for everyone. The abundance of concerts, readings, performances, lectures, and exhibitions prove that the arts thrive year-round on campus.

And the arts events on campus don’t just serve students and faculty. Visitors from central Missouri communities and beyond stop in our galleries, purchase tickets to our performances, and enjoy our arts-oriented special events.

The availability of the arts on campus was a contributing factor to Columbia earning the state’s first-ever designation as a Creative Community by the Missouri Arts Council and the Missouri Department of Economic Development. And with MU’s campus bordering the Columbia downtown, the ability of arts patrons to enjoy what is happening on campus and in the community is nearly seamless.
